Goodness!

Alright, so I finally have access to the net again! Yay! Wow there's been a lot going on since I last updated. I've been in Bigfork for almost a month and it's really been fantastic. I've been so happy! I know how pitiful and ridiculous it sounds, but I kinda forgot how much fun I used to have and how happy I was all the time. It's been such a healing process. I also decided that I'm going to stay the whole summer, so I get to run the shows too now as well as paint them. Oh it's going to be fun! We have the most fantastic cast this year, they're all sweethearts. There's a little group of us that was here last year and also the first few here this year that have become a separate little family. We had family dinners before eveyone else got here, and it was great. Everyone made something, we all cooked and sat down together, it was just like Thanksgiving. :) Anyway, it's been really great so far.

Right now we're two weeks away from opening the first two shows. "The Wiz" opens on June 6th and "Singin' in the Rain" opens on the 9th. As far as being built and painted, both shows are almost done. We have a few big things left to paint, but for the most part all the important stuff is done. My friend that designed the first two shows I think did an excellent job, and we've got some neat things in both of them. One of the things we have left to do is paint a translucent drop for Wiz. It's going to be solid when it's lit from the front, but when it's lit from the back you'll see a bunch of gears and cogs. I've never done a drop like that before and I'm really excited to see how it turns out. I'll be sure to post photos. :) Oh, and speaking of photos, if you want to see some silliness, this is the link to my Facebook photo album. I'll of course post photos here too.

Well, dinner break is almost over, but I just wanted to post and let everyone know that I'm not ignoring my blog on purpose, I just haven't had the internet access. :) I should be back to more regular updates and lots of pics very soon!

I'm trying to update from my phone. I've been without the net and busy but things are good. Had a minor surgery this morning, nothing serious. :)

Checking in

Hi everyone! I'm just popping in for a quick update. I'm sorry I've been a little MIA, I just got moved up to my summer job! *love* So I haven't had as much time as when I was, you know, being a bum in my parent's house. I have pictures and stuff for a good long post, but I'm in between laptops right now and the one I'm using doesn't have a card slot for my camera memory card and I forgot my cord! *do'h!* I'll post pics as soon as my mom sends the cord to me, lol. I'm such a dork. Anyway, more updates and lots of photos to come! Just wanted to say hi to all of you out there in blogland! :D

Got Questions?

So as I sit here enjoying my last day of late sleeping and watching tv in my pajamas while browsing the internet on my laptop, I have just seen a Sherwin-Williams commercial. This is not extraordinary, I've seen many many more of them over the last month and some, but for some reason today it just struck me funny. This commercial says, "Got questions? There's nothing you can't ask Sherwin-Williams." I know they mean questions about home decorating, specifically types of paint and painting techniques. This is probably the only thing in my life I DON'T need help with! (I do have a degree that tells me I'm a scenic artist after all. ;) ) However, Sherwin-Williams, I do have some questions.

Why are we still having snow in May?

How come people can't realize that we're all different and just get along?

Why is it that the longer I sleep the more tired I seem to be?

How can I win the lottery?

Who do you think is the most influential person of our generation? Of all time? Why?

Do you think I would be successful with a small business?

Why is "being green" a sudden new, trendy thing when we should have been doing it all along?

Why is it that in order to use the dictionary to see how to spell a word you have to know how to spell it to look it up?

Why is there Braile under drive-up ATMs?

How can we as a nation be broke when we print our own money? (PS - this has NEVER made sense to me. If I stop and think about the monetary system it just boggles my mind.)

What is the answer to life, the universe, and everything? (Any Douglas Adams fans out there?)

What is the square root of one million, four hundred thousand, five hundred and seventy-two?

Ok, that last one was really just to throw you off. But there you go Sherwin-Williams. Some questions from me to you. :)

Wouldn't it be hilarious if someone DID go into a Sherwin-Williams and just start asking them random questions? I kinda want to just because. But I won't. Because that's mean, and I know, having worked in retail, that it really is just kind of annoying. But there you are. My completely random thought for the day, lol. :D

Bread and a Book

Alrighty, so here are some little tidbits of things from this week.

I frequent Running Away? I'll Help You Pack! and recently she had up a recipe for white bread in a bread machine. I do not have a bread machine. So what do I do? I improvise! And by improvise I mean do it old school, lol. I used all the same ingredients and everything, but instead of putting it in a machine I let it rise, punched it down, and let it rise again. When I baked it, it turned out like this:

Not too shabby! It is a little flat... I didn't get as much rise out of that second time as I had hoped. Also, I might have been a tad impatient. It turned out really delicious though, I ate two ginormous pieces right after I baked it. I think maybe next time a tad more yeast and more wait time.

Also this week I finished reading one of the books I bought. It was really cute actually. Here's the cover:

So I was actually on my to the register to by Good Omens and the cover of this book caught my eye. I read the back and was just too intrigued, I had to buy it. It's about the adventures of two siblings who die in a tragic marshmallow-bear explosion and wind up in Heck. They go to school and have Lizzie Borden as a home ec teacher, Richard Nixon as an ethics teacher, and Blackbeard the pirate for gym, among others. It was a super easy read, and it's full of clever references that I know most kids wouldn't get, which is why I don't know that I'd describe it as a kid's book, if only for the not-too-intricate plot. I thought a little ways in that the author might have sprinkled a little too many allusions in, but overall I really enjoyed it. And like I mentioned earlier, it's the beginning of a series, the second of which is coming out in July. They're going through the nine circles of Heck, lol. Should be fun.

I just started Good Omens, which is the book written by Neil Gaimen and Terry Prachett, and is responsible for launching both their careers. So far, it's fab. I'll be sure to post how the whole thing was when I'm done.

Other than that I've been helping my friend at the capitol with filing the senate and house minutes for this session. Exciting, I know. I actually really enjoy it though. More fun this weekend, and then in a few short days I'm off for my summer job! Maybe I should pack. :D ;)
